90 seconds on a cold grill got me a lot further than 15 min toiling over hot oil and a brick. This thing is made to take autobody paint and body filler off. It's not going to hurt the stainless steel cook top. Esp with the softer brush I got. The one that comes with the unit is probably too aggressive.

Yes, it does throw carbon dust back at you but it's still not as much of a mess as the conventional route. I'm gonna do further testing but I'm pretty sure my wife is gonna love it.

Or. Just use grill cleaner and scrap it off. Takes 2 minutes

That boy is never going to be right again. Well, maybe give it a couple of years of “seasoning”/just using a overused/non pourus grill brick.

It was taking you 15 minutes to clean it normally?

and everywhere else in the kitchen, that dust is in the air.

No, no, no, no, no. This is not the way to clean a grill. Ever.

It takes me 5 minutes to clean a griddle shiny and looking brand new…

  8. DoubleTheDutch

Never took me more than 5 minutes to clean a flattop spotless with a grill brick, ice and oil

Some motherfuckers on this sub will do ANYTHING but use a little sodium hydroxide.

By far quickest, easiest, and cheapest way. I don’t understand you guys.

So you scratched the crap outta it. Good luck cooking pancakes or eggs or whatever on your new shiny stick surface

Brother, you destroyed your top layer. Those grills are machined and leveled in order to make sure the cook top has even heating. You’re not doing that by hand. So, not only did you create countless hotspots across the surface of your grill but you also contaminated your entire kitchen with an unknown amount of particulate matter.

So, after you buy a new grill and finish tearing apart your entire kitchen for a deep clean to the extent that it’s brand new- stop doing whatever drug made you think this was a good idea. Also, never touch any tools again without fully comprehending exactly what that took is doing.

One simple trick to give yourself lung cancer….

Yeah uh flat tops like this are normally cold rolled to get a perfectly flat and smooth cooking surface, you just made it uneven and scored the fuck out of it. You just ruined a roughly 1100 dollar piece of equipment because you were too lazy to do your job, if that was my kitchen your ass would be out the door.

Nobody said it wasn’t going to work. Everybody just said it was going to irreversibly fuck it up. You don’t think anybody has tried this and you’re the first person to have this idea?
